This painting was inspired by my trip to Malta. I went on a little road trip around the island with some friends, and at one of the bays, I came across these amazing types of cacti and the most beautiful shades of green and blue in the water. All those impressions stayed with me, and eventually found their way into this piece.

The row of plants at the bottom actually represents the waves and the rhythm of the bay - almost like the sea taking the shape of flora.

I love incorporating plants and flowers into my work - not just because they’re beautiful, but because they carry so much meaning and energy. For centuries, people have used them to express emotions, to heal, to communicate, or just to bring a sense of beauty into their everyday lives.

I also often play with contrast - not only in color, but in texture too. I think textures bring out the best in each other. Like here: you’ll notice bold, rough spatula strokes alongside delicate dot work done with a tiny brush. That mix of roughness and softness adds a dynamic tension that I really enjoy exploring.
