This one came from me thinking about Ukraine - about missing home and the feeling of when everything felt simpler and more peaceful. I imagined myself like a baby, safe inside a mother’s - or even the motherland’s - belly. That warm, protected space. The umbilical cord in the painting connects the baby back to home - like a lifeline to that sense of belonging and comfort I’ve been missing.
